What GridZeno can do depends on whether you have an X3-Ultra or an X3-AELIO.

X3-AELIO

SolaX' remote control as on a Hybrid G4: a command with the battery's power and a duration, which the inverter ends by itself. Choose X3-AELIO as the model when you set up GridZeno.

X3-Ultra

The dongle reads the inverter and both batteries and writes your lowest state of charge to the inverter. Charging and selling come later, and the protocol has no export limit.

Stop selling at negative prices

The inverter's export limit is set quarter by quarter by the selling price, but only where the installer has turned export limiting on. GridZeno only lowers a limit that's already set and never turns it on or off.

Manual

When the control is on Manual, the dongle changes nothing on the inverter. It reads, and if GridZeno has changed something, it puts the inverter's own settings back, including your own charge limits.

X3-Ultra: the serial number starts with H3BC, H3BD, H3BF or H3BG. X3-AELIO: the serial number starts with 8021 and is read as GEN5.

X3-Ultra

Its own register map (V1.01) with two batteries: power in 0x16 and 0x129, charge level in 0x1C and 0x12D, capacity in 0x26 and 0x2A. The charge level is weighted by capacity. The map allows no command at 0xA0 and has no export limit.

X3-AELIO

Five strings (PV4 and PV5 in 0x2E and 0x2F) and 9600 baud from the factory. Controlled only when you have chosen X3-AELIO; chosen as X3-Ultra it's only read.

What the dongle allows for

• V1.01 lacks 0x94-0x97 and most of meter 2. The dongle learns this from the inverter's refusals and tries again every 6 hours.

How it differs from its neighbours

• SolaX X1/X3 Hybrid G4: The Hybrid G4 has remote control and an export limit, which the X3-Ultra doesn't have.
• SolaX X1/X3-IES: The X1/X3-IES is GEN5 like the X3-AELIO and is controlled with the same command.

Where

On the underside of the inverter. COM 1 is a connector with six RJ45 ports in a cable holder: Parallel-1, Parallel-2, BMS-1, BMS-2, RS485 and DRM. The RS485 port is marked on the holder.

SolaX X3-Ultra / X3-AELIO is the inverter GridZeno has been tested on. Check that your model is under X3-ULT-15K to 30K, X3-ULT-10K/15K-GLV and X3-AELIO-36K to 61K. If it still doesn't suit you, you have 100 days' free return.
