SolaX X1/X3-IES with GridZeno.
The battery is controlled with SolaX' remote control, which stops by itself if the dongle goes silent. Applies to X1-IES and X1-IES-A, X3-IES, X3-IES-A and X3-IES-P.

How the inverter is controlled
The dongle controls the battery with SolaX' remote control.
- Charge, hold and sell
- A command with the battery's power and a duration. When the duration is over, the inverter stops by itself, so the battery never gets stuck in a command if the dongle goes silent.
- Stop selling at negative prices
- The inverter's export limit is set quarter by quarter by the selling price, but only where the installer has turned export limiting on. GridZeno only lowers a limit that's already set and never turns it on or off.
- Battery limits
- Your lowest state of charge is written to the inverter's own limit.
- Locked inverter
- GridZeno never unlocks the inverter. If it's locked, you unlock it in the SolaX app or in the menu. It locks itself again after a restart.
- Manual
- When the control is on Manual, the dongle changes nothing on the inverter. It reads, and if GridZeno has changed something, it puts the inverter's own settings back, including your own charge limits.
What is special about the SolaX X1/X3-IES
The start of the serial number: H53, H55, H56 or H58 is X1-IES (H55-H58 with three MPPTs). H35A, H35F, P35A and P35G1 are X3-IES.
- The battery
- From Modbus protocol 100 in 0x38, the charge level in 0x3C and the battery's state of health in 0x3D. Before that in 0x16 and 0x1C.
- The export limit
- In 1 W on the X1 and in 10 W on the X3.
How it differs from its neighbours
- SolaX X1/X3 Hybrid G4: The Hybrid G4 is the fourth generation with the same command and reads the battery in 0x16 and 0x1C.
- SolaX X1-VAST: The X1-VAST is sixth generation and has up to four strings.
For the installer: the registers
What the dongle uses over Modbus, if you want to follow along or troubleshoot. Don't change the registers yourself while control is set to Automatic.
- Control
- One block of 8 registers from 0xA0 with function 0x10: mode 8, the battery power and a duration of 60 seconds to 8 hours. Released with 13 zeros from 0x7C.
- Export limit
- Written in 0x42 and read in 0xB6. The installer's value is saved and written back exactly as it was.
- Lowest charge level
- By the work mode in 0x8B: Self Use in 0x61, Feed-in Priority in 0x65, Backup in 0x67.
- Rated power and firmware
- The rated power in 0xBA, the Modbus protocol in 0x82.
From the dongle's firmware and our notes on each inverter, not from the datasheet.
How to connect the dongle
Wires in the inverter's terminal plug. Approx. 30 minutes.
- Port
- COM (terminal block P4)
- Pin
- A at pin 11 (MODBUS_485A), B at pin 12 (MODBUS_485B), GND at pin 10 (GND_COM)
- Where
- COM is a waterproof shared connector on the underside of the inverter, by CT/Meter and Dongle. Inside the connector there are two RJ45 ports, P1 and P2, for parallel operation, and a terminal block with P3 (terminals 1 to 8) and P4 (terminals 9 to 16).
Before you buy
This one works.
SolaX X1/X3-IES is the inverter GridZeno has been tested on. Check that your model is under X1-IES and X1-IES-A, X3-IES, X3-IES-A and X3-IES-P, and that a battery is fitted if you want the battery controlled by the electricity price. If it still doesn't suit you, you have 100 days' free return.
