Examples from real solar systems: Two systems, two different answers.

What GridZeno does depends on what you have on the roof and in the utility room. Here are two real systems in Jutland: one with a battery and automatic control, and one without a battery.

About the figures
Both systems are connected to GridZeno, and the owners have given us permission to show their data here. The figures are measured on the systems and calculated with the same prices the owners see in GridZeno themselves. What you can save depends on your own system, your consumption, your electricity contract and how much prices vary. So the figures can't be taken as the answer for your system, but they show how GridZeno works on two very different systems.

East/west roof with battery

Pro · Automatic

7.4 kWp on two roof faces facing east and west, 20° pitch · Growatt WIT 15 kW · 16 kWh battery

The starting point

The two roof faces give a broad curve in the morning and afternoon instead of one midday peak. The inverter doesn't send solar power out to the grid by itself, so surplus has to be used or stored. The battery can still sell when GridZeno tells it to.

What happened

Automatic control was switched on on 23 September. In the first 48 hours GridZeno charged the battery from the grid four times when power was cheap, and sold from the battery three times when it was expensive. In the 33 hours from 24 to 25 September, power cost DKK 6.46. With the same sun and consumption and the inverter on its own, it would have cost DKK 10.06.

South-facing roof without battery

Overview and forecast

10.5 kWp facing south, 10° pitch · Growatt MOD 10 kW · no battery

The starting point

A house with high consumption and a system without a battery. Most of the sun comes in the middle of the day, but over a third of the power the house bought was bought between 17:00 and 06:00.

What happened

GridZeno showed production, consumption and prices and made forecasts over the 70 days that have been measured. Without a battery, 41 % of the solar power was sent out to the grid and sold at an average of DKK 0.47/kWh, while the house bought power at an average of DKK 1.22/kWh. That difference is what a battery could have worked with, minus the losses in the battery.

How we write a case study

What a case study
must contain.

We don't publish a case study without figures we can account for ourselves, and not until the person it's about has read it and approved it.

The system
Size, orientation, battery and inverter model, so you can compare it with your own.
The period
How long it has been measured. A week doesn't say very much.
The figures
Taken from the same data and prices the owner sees. Not picked for what looks best.
Consent
Given by the owner, with the right to withdraw it afterwards.
Would you like to take part?

We would like to tell you
about more systems.

If you have a system with GridZeno and would like us to tell its story, let us know. You read the case study before it goes on the page, and you can always have it removed again.

This isn't an offer of a discount or free equipment.

It starts with your system

Ready for cheaper
power?

Check whether your inverter fits, and let the plan charge the battery and sell power in the right quarter hours.
