SolaX X1/X3 Hybrid G4 with GridZeno.
The battery is controlled with SolaX' remote control, which stops by itself if the dongle goes silent. Applies to X1-Hybrid G4 and X3-Hybrid G4 (G4.3 and G4.4, D and M).

How the inverter is controlled
The dongle controls the battery with SolaX' remote control.
- Charge, hold and sell
- A command with the battery's power and a duration. When the duration is over, the inverter stops by itself, so the battery never gets stuck in a command if the dongle goes silent.
- Stop selling at negative prices
- The inverter's export limit is set quarter by quarter by the selling price, but only where the installer has turned export limiting on. GridZeno only lowers a limit that's already set and never turns it on or off.
- Battery limits
- Your lowest state of charge is written to the inverter's own limit.
- Locked inverter
- GridZeno never unlocks the inverter. If it's locked, you unlock it in the SolaX app or in the menu. It locks itself again after a restart.
- Manual
- When the control is on Manual, the dongle changes nothing on the inverter. It reads, and if GridZeno has changed something, it puts the inverter's own settings back, including your own charge limits.
What is special about the SolaX X1/X3 Hybrid G4
The start of the serial number in holding 0x00. X1-Hybrid G4: 63150, H43, H44, H450, H460, H475 and H3VC83. X3-Hybrid G4: 63110, H31 and H34.
- Firmware
- From Modbus protocol 100 (holding 0x82), the command is read back in 0x1A0-0x1A7. The stop charge level in 0xE0 exists from about firmware V3.2x (January 2023).
- The export limit
- In 1 W on the X1 and in 10 W on the X3.
What the dongle allows for
- SolaX ignores its own lowest charge level under remote control. So the dongle shortens the command to the time the battery needs to reach the target or the floor.
- If VPP Exit Idle (0xB4) isn't on and a charge gets stuck in idle, the dongle writes the cause in the log.
- If the work mode is TOU or SmartSchedule, the inverter can break off remote control at its own periods. The Dongle page says so.
- If the inverter is master or slave in a parallel system (0x130), it isn't controlled.
How it differs from its neighbours
- SolaX X1-Hybrid G3: The third generation has no remote control, so the battery can't be controlled.
- SolaX X1/X3-IES: The X1/X3-IES is GEN5 and is controlled with the same command, but reads the battery in 0x38 from protocol 100.
For the installer: the registers
What the dongle uses over Modbus, if you want to follow along or troubleshoot. Don't change the registers yourself while control is set to Automatic.
- Control
- One block of 8 registers from 0xA0 with function 0x10: mode 8, the battery power and a duration of 60 seconds to 8 hours. Released with 13 zeros from 0x7C.
- Export limit
- Written in 0x42 and read in 0xB6. The installer's value is saved and written back exactly as it was.
- Lowest charge level
- By the work mode in 0x8B: Self Use in 0x61, Feed-in Priority in 0x65, Backup in 0x67.
- Rated power and firmware
- The rated power in 0xBA, the Modbus protocol in 0x82.

How to connect the dongle
Network cable with RJ45 plug. Approx. 25 minutes.
- Port
- COM (X3) or COM/LCD (X1)
- Pin
- A at pin 4 (485A), B at pin 5 (485B), GND at pin 6 (GND)
- Where
- On the X3, COM is the first on the left of the three round, sealed ports on the underside: COM, BMS and METER/CT. CAN1, CAN2, DRM and OFF are RJ45 ports in a block under a cover below. On the X1, COM/LCD is among the communication ports by BMS and Meter/CT. Each port has its own waterproof cable gland with a dust cap.
