Deye hybrid, three-phase (LP3) with GridZeno.
The battery is controlled with Deye's remote control, which stops by itself if the dongle goes silent. On a firmware without remote control, the dongle uses the inverter's time-of-use program and puts your own back afterwards. Applies to SUN-5-12K-SG04LP3, SUN-3-20K-SG05LP3 and SUN-3-8K-SG06LP3.

How the inverter is controlled
The dongle controls the battery with Deye's remote control and puts the inverter's own settings back afterwards.
- Three-phase
- Deye's remote control. The dongle renews the command while the block lasts, and if the dongle stops, the inverter goes back by itself. On a firmware without remote control, the inverter's time-of-use program is used instead.
- Sell from the battery
- Through the inverter's maximum sell power. With the time-of-use program and zero export turned on, the inverter only uses the battery for the house.
- Stop selling at negative prices
- The inverter's export limit is set quarter by quarter by the selling price, but only where the installer has turned export limiting on. GridZeno only lowers a limit that's already set and never turns it on or off.
- Manual
- When the control is on Manual, the dongle changes nothing on the inverter. It reads, and if GridZeno has changed something, it puts the inverter's own settings back, including your own charge limits.
What is special about the Deye hybrid, three-phase (LP3)
Holding 0 is 0x0500: Deye's three-phase hybrid for a low-voltage battery. The dongle doesn't look at the model name, only at that code.
- Remote control
- If the firmware has it, the battery is controlled with 1100-1109. The dongle decides from the values in 1100 and 1101. Firmware 1135 and 1147 answer 0x0500 in 1100 and don't have it, and then the time-of-use program in 146-177 is used.
- If the dongle goes quiet
- The watchdog in 1101 runs out, and the inverter leaves remote control by itself. The dongle sets it to the time until the battery reaches the target or the floor, plus 45 seconds, and renews it every 20 seconds.
- Highest charge level
- The stop charge level in 267, 90-100 %.
What the dongle allows for
- Deye accepts only function 0x03 and 0x10, so the dongle never writes with 0x06.
- If the inverter doesn't keep three remote commands before one is confirmed, the dongle switches to the time-of-use program for the rest of that start-up.
- The dongle doesn't take over remote control that another system has set.
- Firmware with a protocol before V104 has the grid only as a 16-bit number in 625.
How it differs from its neighbours
- Deye hybrid with RS485 port: The high-voltage version has the same registers, but the powers are in 10 W, and it also reads PV5-8 and a second battery.
- Deye hybrid, single-phase (LP1): The single-phase LP1 has no remote control and no stop charge level in 267, only the time-of-use program.
For the installer: the registers
What the dongle uses over Modbus, if you want to follow along or troubleshoot. Don't change the registers yourself while control is set to Automatic.
- Remote control
- 1104 = 1, 1105 = 2, 1109 = the battery power in 0.1 % of the rated power, the watchdog 1101 = 10-18000 seconds, and then 1100 = 1. 1100 = 0 releases.
- Export limit
- 142 is the switch, 143 the highest selling power.
- Measurement
- The grid in 625 and 690, the battery in 586-590, the sun in 672-675.
From the dongle's firmware and our notes on each inverter, not from the datasheet.
How to connect the dongle
Network cable with RJ45 plug. Approx. 25 minutes. Needs an electrician: the inverter has to be opened.
- Port
- Modbus
- Pin
- A at pin 7 (485_A), B at pin 8 (485_B), GND at pin 6 (GND_485)
- Where
- In the connection compartment at the bottom of the inverter, behind the cover, in the row of RJ45 ports together with Parallel A and B, Meter-485 and BMS. The order of the ports differs slightly from model to model, so look for the name Modbus. The cable is passed in through a cable gland in the bottom.

Before you buy
This one works.
Deye hybrid, three-phase (LP3) is the inverter GridZeno has been tested on. Check that your model is under SUN-5-12K-SG04LP3, SUN-3-20K-SG05LP3 and SUN-3-8K-SG06LP3, and that a battery is fitted if you want the battery controlled by the electricity price. If it still doesn't suit you, you have 100 days' free return.
