Deye hybrid, single-phase (LP1) with GridZeno.
The battery is controlled with the inverter's time-of-use program. The dongle saves your own program and puts it back afterwards. Applies to SUN-3-6K-SG04LP1, SUN-3.6-10K-SG05LP1 (AM2-P, SM2, SM2-P), SUN-3-12K-SG06LP1 and SUN-12-18K-SG01LP1.

How the inverter is controlled
The dongle controls the battery with the inverter's time-of-use program and puts your own program back afterwards.
- Single-phase
- The inverter's time-of-use program. The dongle saves your own program and charge current and puts them back afterwards. Requires a lithium battery with a BMS.
- Sell from the battery
- Through the inverter's maximum sell power. With the time-of-use program and zero export turned on, the inverter only uses the battery for the house.
- Stop selling at negative prices
- The inverter's export limit is set quarter by quarter by the selling price, but only where the installer has turned export limiting on. GridZeno only lowers a limit that's already set and never turns it on or off.
- Manual
- When the control is on Manual, the dongle changes nothing on the inverter. It reads, and if GridZeno has changed something, it puts the inverter's own settings back, including your own charge limits.
What is special about the Deye hybrid, single-phase (LP1)
Holding 0 is 0x0300. Some 12-18 kW SG01LP1 units report 0x0200 like a grid inverter; the dongle knows them by holding 8 = 8 or by the battery registers 183, 184 and 213 answering like a battery.
- Control
- Only the time-of-use program in 248-279. All six periods get the same behaviour. Your own program is saved before the dongle writes, and put back afterwards.
- Charging from the grid
- 232 = 1, and the charge current in 230 is the plan's power divided by the battery voltage, at most 185 A and at most your own limit. A hold sets the highest charge current to 0.
- What it requires
- The battery is run by charge level (battery mode 1 in 213). A battery run by voltage gets no time-of-use program.
What the dongle allows for
- The grid in 169 and the consumption in 178 report in 1 W or 10 W, depending on the unit. The dongle decides it from the energy balance and the day's counters before they're shown.
- With zero export on, the dongle offers no sale from the battery on the time-of-use program.
How it differs from its neighbours
- Deye hybrid, three-phase (LP3): The three-phase LP3 has Deye's remote control, which expires by itself, and a stop charge level in 267.
- Deye hybrid with RS485 port: The SG02LP1 is on the page about Deye with an RS485 port, because it's connected like the HV models. If it reports 0x0300, it's controlled as an LP1.
For the installer: the registers
What the dongle uses over Modbus, if you want to follow along or troubleshoot. Don't change the registers yourself while control is set to Automatic.
- Time-of-use program
- 248 turns it on, the periods are in 250-279.
- Export limit
- 244 is the switch, 245 the highest selling power.
- Measurement
- The grid in 169, the consumption in 178, the battery in 182-190, the sun in 186-189.
From the dongle's firmware and our notes on each inverter, not from the datasheet.
How to connect the dongle
Network cable with RJ45 plug. Approx. 25 minutes. Needs an electrician: the inverter has to be opened.
- Port
- Modbus
- Pin
- A at pin 7 (485_A), B at pin 8 (485_B), GND at pin 6 (GND_485)
- Where
- In the connection compartment at the bottom of the inverter, behind the cover, in the row of RJ45 ports together with Meter, BMS or RS485/CAN and the two parallel ports. The order differs from model to model, so look for the name Modbus. The cable is passed in through a cable gland in the bottom.

Before you buy
This one works.
Deye hybrid, single-phase (LP1) is the inverter GridZeno has been tested on. Check that your model is under SUN-3-6K-SG04LP1, SUN-3.6-10K-SG05LP1 (AM2-P, SM2, SM2-P), SUN-3-12K-SG06LP1 and SUN-12-18K-SG01LP1, and that a battery is fitted if you want the battery controlled by the electricity price. If it still doesn't suit you, you have 100 days' free return.
