Install GridZeno on Huawei SUN2000.
For Huawei, there's no cable from the GridZeno dongle to the inverter. It talks to Huawei's Smart Dongle over your network with Modbus TCP, which must be switched on in the FusionSolar app. The Smart Dongle is Huawei's own accessory, which sits in the inverter's dongle port and is bought separately. The inverter's built-in Wi-Fi can only be used for the app, not for GridZeno.
- Applies to
- SUN2000 and SUN5000 with Smart Dongle SDongleA-05
- Connection
- Over your network, without a cable to the inverter
- Time
- About 15 minutes
The battery is controlled with forced charge and discharge, which runs out by itself on the inverter if the dongle goes silent. What GridZeno can do on Huawei SUN2000
How the dongle recognises it: The model name in 30000 starts with SUN2000 or SUN5000. The battery is in 47000/47089: 2 is LUNA2000, 1 is LG RESU.
What you need
- GridZeno Dongle
- The device ID is on the label, e.g. GZ-A1B2C3.
- Huawei Smart Dongle
- SDongleA-05 (WLAN-FE) on your network. The 4G version SDongleB-06 isn't on your network and can't be used.
- The FusionSolar app
- And an installer login to the inverter, or your installer.
- Access to your router
- To find the Smart Dongle's IP address.
- USB power
- A 5 V USB charger and a cable with USB-C.
The connection
Huawei's Smart Dongle SDongleA-05 in the inverter's dongle port, marked 4G/FE or WLAN-FE. It must be on your network with Wi-Fi or a network cable. If you have several Huawei inverters daisy-chained, the Smart Dongle and the energy meter are on the first one. The GridZeno dongle only needs power and network.
- Connection
- Huawei Smart Dongle (Modbus TCP, port 502)
Settings
On Huawei Smart Dongle
- Dongle parameter settings > Modbus TCP
- Enable (Unrestricted)
In GridZeno's Welcome
The inverter is chosen in GridZeno: in Welcome the first time, and later under System, Change inverter. The dongle fetches its setup from there.
- Manufacturer and model
- Huawei, SUN2000
- Connection
- Over the network (Modbus TCP)
- The inverter's address on your network
- The Smart Dongle's IP address. Port 502 is used automatically.
Step by step
Each step has a small drawing that shows what to do.
- 1Switch on Modbus TCP in FusionSolar
Log in to the inverter as installer under Device Commissioning in the FusionSolar app. Go to Settings, Communication configuration, Dongle parameter settings, Modbus TCP, and set the connection to Enable (Unrestricted). If the setting isn't there, the installer can switch it on in FusionSolar on the web.
- 2Find the Smart Dongle's IP address
Find it in your router's list of devices. Give it a fixed address in the router so it doesn't change, otherwise GridZeno loses the connection.
- 3Connect power to the dongle
Plug the USB-C cable into the dongle and the charger into a socket. The dongle starts by itself. It gets power from the charger, not from the inverter.
- 4Connect the dongle to the network
Over Wi-Fi: the first time, the dongle creates its own Wi-Fi, GridZeno-Setup- followed by the last characters of the device ID. Connect your phone to it, choose your own network, and enter the password. Over cable (LAN): plug a network cable from the router into the dongle's network port. The dongle must be on the same network as the Smart Dongle.
- 5The GridZeno dongle talks to the Smart Dongle
There's no cable between them. They meet in your router, and the GridZeno dongle queries the Smart Dongle on port 502.
- 6Log in to GridZeno
Log in to GridZeno. Welcome pairs the dongle with its device ID and then asks about your inverter.
- 7Choose your inverter in Welcome
Choose your inverter, Huawei SUN2000, and the connection Over the network (Modbus TCP). Enter the Smart Dongle's IP address in the field The inverter's address on your network, and press Save inverter. Port 502 is used automatically. The dongle then fetches its setup and reads from the inverter.
The dongle's own setup is described with screenshots in The user guide, and the pairing in Getting started.
