Charge, hold and sell

The inverter's first time segment is set to the whole day: Battery First for charging and holding, Grid First for selling.

Stop selling at negative prices

The inverter's export limit is set quarter by quarter by the selling price, but only where the installer has turned export limiting on. GridZeno only lowers a limit that's already set and never turns it on or off.

Back afterwards

The dongle saves the inverter's own settings before it changes them the first time, and puts them back when the plan is done and after a restart.

Manual

When the control is on Manual, the dongle changes nothing on the inverter. It reads, and if GridZeno has changed something, it puts the inverter's own settings back, including your own charge limits.

What it requires

An inverter firmware with the time segments. If yours doesn't have them, GridZeno can only read the inverter.

The type code 5100, when the range from 3000 answers (input 3003). The MIN TL-XH2 uses the same code, but it answers only in the VPP ranges.

Control

Time segment 1 is set to the whole day: Battery First for charging and hold, Grid First for selling. The dongle saves all the segments 3036-3059 before it writes, and puts them back when the block ends and after a restart.

What the dongle allows for

• A segment is always written as its two words in one command, and your other segments that are on are turned off first, because a segment for the whole day overlaps them.
• Some inverters with the type code 5100 throw away a low stop level in 3048 (38-42 %). The dongle then stops the charging at the target itself and writes it in the log.
• During a hold the sun can still charge the battery, but only up to your highest charge level, which the hold writes in 3048.

How it differs from its neighbours

• Growatt MIN TL-XH2: The MIN TL-XH2 has the same type code, but is controlled with Growatt's VPP command and needs VPP V2.01.
• Growatt MIN TL-X: The MIN TL-X has no battery and the type code 5200 or 5201.

For the installer: the registers

What the dongle uses over Modbus, if you want to follow along or troubleshoot. Don't change the registers yourself while control is set to Automatic.

Charging and hold

Segment 1 in 3038/3039 as Battery First (0xA000/0x173B), the target in 3048, the power in 3047 and 3049 = 1 to charge, 0 to hold.

Sales

Segment 1 as Grid First (0xC000/0x173B), the floor in 3037 and the power in 3036.

Export limit

30201 in whole per cent or 123 in 0.1 %, depending on which switch the installer has turned on (30200 = 1 or 122 in 1-3).

Where

The round 8-pin connector on the underside between USB and AC. The same connector is used for the battery's and the energy meter's signals, so there may already be wires in it. The connector marked COM is for DRM and must not be used.
