The grid tariffs for 2026 and their times.

Your grid company's grid tariff is a large part of the electricity price, and it changes with the time of day and the season. Here are the rates for households at each grid company in 2026, and what they mean for when power is cheap.

01

What are low load, high load and peak load?

Most grid companies use Tarifmodel 3.0: low load, high load and peak load.

They are the grid tariff's three times of day in Tarifmodel 3.0: low load from 00:00 to 06:00 is the cheapest, high load is 06:00 to 17:00 and 21:00 to 24:00, and peak load from 17:00 to 21:00 is the most expensive.

Low load
00:00 to 06:00. The cheapest, and the same price all year.
High load
06:00 to 17:00 and 21:00 to 24:00.
Peak load
17:00 to 21:00. The most expensive.
Winter
October to March. High load and peak load typically cost twice as much as in summer, peak load often more.

The times are the same every day, weekends included. You only pay the grid tariff for the power you buy. For the power you sell, a small feed-in tariff is deducted instead.

From Energinet's DataHub, the grid companies' own price lists, fetched on 3 October 2026. Winter is the rates as of 15 October 2026, summer the rates as of 15 July 2026. With VAT, multiply the figures by 1.25.

Four grid companies have the same rate around the clock and all year: Elinord 18.64 øre, Forsyning Elnet 31.07 øre, Grindsted Elnet 47.24 øre and Ikast El Net 22.83 øre. At Aal El-Net the rate changes from day to day, and Kimbrer Elnet has a winter rate of 0 in DataHub, so those two aren't included. Always check your own grid company's website if you're in doubt.

03

What are the electricity tax and Energinet's tariffs in 2026?

On top of the grid tariff come three rates that are the same for everyone in Denmark.

The electricity tax is 0.8 øre per kWh in 2026 and 2027, against 72 øre in 2025. Energinet's system tariff is 7.2 øre and the transmission tariff 4.3 øre per kWh in 2026. All three rates are before VAT, the same for everyone in Denmark and the same around the clock, so they do not change when power is cheapest. On top of it all comes 25% VAT.

System tariff (systemtarif)
7.2 øre per kWh in 2026 and 4.9 øre in 2027.
Transmission grid tariff (transmissionsnettarif)
4.3 øre per kWh in 2026 and 5.6 øre in 2027.
Electricity tax
0.8 øre per kWh in 2026 and 2027. In 2025 it was 72 øre.
VAT
25% of the total, including the spot price.

The three rates are the same around the clock, so they don't change when power is cheapest. But they make every kWh you buy more expensive, and so every kWh of your own solar power you use more valuable. The low electricity tax in 2026 and 2027 makes solar power you use yourself 89 øre less valuable per kWh with VAT than it was in 2025.

The same quarter hour at three prices

With the same spot price, it's the grid tariff alone that moves the price.

ExampleSpot price DKK 1.00 on a winter day at Radius Elnet

Spot price100,00100,00100,00

Total excluding VAT122,92144,15207,86
With VAT153,65180,19259,83

Without the electricity supplier's fee. The quarter hour at 18:00 costs DKK 1.06 more than the quarter hour at 03:00, even though the spot price is the same.

05

How much more expensive is power from 17:00 to 21:00?

Moving consumption away from 17:00 to 21:00 in winter is worth the most.

In winter, a kWh costs from 34 to 160 øre more in grid tariff from 17:00 to 21:00 than at night, before VAT. At most grid companies, the difference is between 45 and 85 øre.

  1. Move what can wait. The dishwasher, washing machine and electric car can just as well run at night or in the middle of the day.
  2. Use the battery from 17:00 to 21:00. If you have a battery, that's when the power from it's worth the most. See what it's worth in kroner.
  3. Charge from the grid at night when it pays off. The difference has to be bigger than the loss in the battery and the wear, otherwise it costs money.

GridZeno gets your grid company's own rates from DataHub and uses them for every quarter hour, so the plan knows that the quarter hour at 17:00 is more expensive than the quarter hour at 16:45. The plan is carried out by the GridZeno Dongle, which sits at your inverter.
