The dongle controls the inverter in the same way as our own WIT 15K-HU and always sets the inverter's own mode back afterwards.

Charge from the grid

Battery First with the plan's target as the stop state of charge. When the target is reached, the battery stands idle for the rest of the block.

Hold the battery

The IDLE mode: the battery neither charges nor discharges while the house uses solar and grid.

Sell from the battery

A time-limited command in Growatt's VPP protocol. The dongle renews it while the sale lasts and removes it afterwards.

Stop selling at negative prices

The inverter's export limit is set quarter by quarter by the selling price, but only where the installer has turned export limiting on. GridZeno only lowers a limit that's already set and never turns it on or off.

What it requires

Choose WIT as the model for 4-15 kW and WIT over 15 kW for 17-25 kW when you set up GridZeno.

The rest of the time

The inverter's own mode. The dongle saves it before it switches the first time, and sets it back after each block and after a restart.

Manual

When the control is on Manual, the dongle changes nothing on the inverter. It reads, and if GridZeno has changed something, it puts the inverter's own settings back, including your own charge limits.

Neither the WIT 17-25K-HU nor the WIT 4-25K-XHU has a type code of its own in any table. The dongle sees 5603 and tells them apart by the rated power in 30016: above 15 kW it's a WIT above 15 kW.

Model in GridZeno

WIT for 4-15 kW and WIT above 15 kW for 17-25 kW. A WIT above 15 kW chosen as WIT is read but not controlled.

The housing

WIT 17-25K-HU about 475 × 695 × 241 mm and 58 kg. WIT 4-15K-XHU about 445 × 630 × 234 mm and 43 kg. WIT 17-25K-XHU about 465 × 644 × 241 mm and 45 kg.

How it differs from its neighbours

• Growatt WIT: The WIT 4-15K-HU has the same port and the same pins. It's the one GridZeno is measured on, and it has the type code 5603 with a rated power of at most 15 kW.
• Growatt WIT 29.9-50K-XHU: From 29.9 kW the XHU series has the type code 5601, and the RS485 port is in COM1 on the underside.

Where

On the COM1 communication board behind the lower cover: CN1/BMS-1, CN2/RS485-IN and CN3/RS485-OUT at the top, CN4/METER, CN5/DI, CN6/PARA_IN and CN7/PARA_OUT at the bottom. The cables are passed in through the PG gland at COM1 on the underside. RS485-OUT (CN3) has the same pins.

Growatt WIT 17-25K-HU and 4-25K-XHU is the inverter GridZeno has been tested on. Check that your model is under WIT 17K, 18K, 20K, 22K and 25K-HU and WIT 4K to 25K-XHU (all ten sizes), and that a battery is fitted if you want the battery controlled by the electricity price.
