The EV charger and GridZeno.

An electric car can use as much power in an evening as the rest of the house uses in a day. Here is how you get the car into GridZeno, and how GridZeno helps you charge when power is cheapest.

We're working on this feature, and more is coming.
01

Connect your car

Beta

Then GridZeno can see how charged the car is, and when it's charging.

In GridZeno you find Electric car under Integrations. Choose the car's brand, and log in with the e-mail and password you use in the brand's app. GridZeno then fetches the status the car itself sends to its brand: how charged the battery is, whether the car is plugged in and charging, at what power, how far it can drive, and the charge limit set in the car.

Car brands
Kia, Volkswagen, Škoda, Renault, Nissan, Toyota, MG, Polestar, smart, BYD, BMW and MINI
BMW and MINI
Connected through BMW CarData. You create a CarData client in your BMW or MINI account and give access on BMW's own site.
MG
The status is fetched every 3 hours, because MG's service always queries the car itself.

GridZeno never stores the car's position and sends no commands to the car. Read what we store.

Tell GridZeno about the car

Then the charging is included in the forecast of your consumption.

In GridZeno in the browser, you find Home equipment under Integrations. Enter how far the car drives a day, how much power it uses per 100 km, and when it usually charges. The consumption forecast then includes the charging, and the plan knows that power will be needed at that time.

Under Electric car, you enter how full the car should be, when it drives on each day of the week, and which charge box you have.

03

Charge when power is cheapest

BetaAll subscriptions

Under Electricity prices in GridZeno, you see the buying price for each quarter hour, and when power is cheapest. Tomorrow's prices arrive around 13:00. Set the charger's own schedule by them in the charger's app.

04

Spare the battery when the car is charging

BetaPro only

Then the house battery doesn't go to the car, but is saved for the rest of the evening.

With Pro you can make a rule: hold the battery when the house uses more than, say, 7 kW. The dongle measures the consumption itself and only reacts when two readings in a row are above the limit, so a short peak doesn't count. While the rule applies, the battery stays still, and the house and the car get their power from the sun and the grid.

See how your own rules work.

05

When the car should charge

Beta

Charge the car when power is cheapest, or on surplus from the sun.

Based on how full the car should be, and when it has to drive, GridZeno works out when the car should charge. For each charge, GridZeno checks the system's own readings to see whether it showed up in the house's consumption.

We're still working on the feature. Write to uswhich car and charge box you have, and it will count.
